BIO I was raised in a rural part of Tennessee. I grew up in the country surrounded by trees and farmland. This modest upbringing helped cultivate my creativity. I was always drawing, painting or in my dad’s woodworking shop creating wood crafts. After receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts, from Middle Tennessee State University, I spent many years working in advertising as a graphic designer. Once my children were born, I became a full-time mom and freelance graphic designer. Eventually I found my way back to my passion of creating fine art through painting, and I haven’t stopped since.
ARTIST STATEMENT Though I mainly work in acrylics, I often experiment with different mediums such as oil, gold leaf and a variety of mixed media. I enjoy studying light and reflection. I love color, whether it’s nuanced in muted glazes, or bold, vivid colors applied in a way that they seem to glow. I frequently pair impasto palette knife painting with smooth, blended brushstrokes. Texture is an important element in my work. Nature is one of God’s beautiful creations and I find endless inspiration in its ever changing beauty. I especially find my home state of Tennessee captivating.
